International Journal of Product Lifecycle Management (IJPLM), Vol. 1, No. 2, 2006
Special Issue on Towards Intelligent PLM Systems: Mathematical Methods, Technologies and Applications Dominique Michelucci and David Levin (Guest Editors) 06 Jan 2006 Today constraints, features and designers’ intents pervade all moments of the lifecycle of
manufactured products: design, conception, optimisation, manufacturing, assembling,
disassembling, maintenance, data exchange and reverse engineering, which constitutes
the so called PLM (Product Lifecycle Management). The aim of this special issue of the
International Journal of Product Lifecycle Management is to present the approaches and
results in research and technology that improve the intelligence of market oriented
solutions and products in PLM, computer graphics, virtual reality, simulation, computer
games, multimedia, and other adjacent domains – with special emphasis on development
and application of the constraint based techniques and geometrical solving.
This special issue is based on lectures presented at the first international workshop
"Constraint-based approaches and methods of mathematical modelling for intelligent
PLM systems: from methods to applications" (isiCAD-2004) held in Novosibirsk, Russia
in June 2004. The isiCAD-2004 workshop was aimed at outlining the relationship
between two dimensions: the above mentioned domains and, on the other hand, the
methods that are soundly expected to support and improve intelligence for those domains.
Bringing together of the domains in question and the relevant methods for improving the domain’s intelligence was fruitful, and enabled establishing of the isiCAD community. Another important aim of the event was to bring together
researchers, developers, solution providers, distributors and customers of PLM and close
domains in order to achieve better mutual understanding about tendencies, requirements,
demands, problems, affordability and prospects. Fixed link :: http://ledas.com/consulting/publications?pub=52 |

Preprint N16: (in English) LEDAS FreeTime: PRODUCT OVERVIEW A.Ershov, V.Kornienko, S.Preis, A.Rasskazov, I.Rykov, D.Ushakov 30 Aug 2005 This technical publication presents a current (July 2005) state of an end-user software solution FreeTime for computer-aided optimal scheduling of meetings produced by LEDAS. The solution is based on client-server architecture and makes it possible to coordinate team work using different devices: PDAs, mobile phones, and notebooks. The paper oveviews the purpose of FreeTime, its use-cases, architecture, algorithmic core, strengths for the market, and plans for the further development.

Preprint N15: (in English and Russian) LSE: NEW SCHEDULING ENGINE FOR LEDAS SCHEDULER 3.0 AND PERSPECTIVES OF
ITS USAGE A.Ershov, I.Ivanov, V.Kornienko, S.Preis, A.Rasskazov, I. Rykov 08 Feb 2005 This paper presents LEDAS Scheduler 3.0, a new version of the
integrated environment for specification, modification, and solution
of scheduling problems. Version 3.0 is based on the new LSE engine,
which improves efficiency of solution by an order of magnitude,
particularly in the most common classes of problems, due to new
high-performance algorithms designed and implemented by LEDAS. The
paper presents the necessary information about the components of the
project: architecture, algorithms, and interface of the new engine,
LSE, as well as the latest results of testing. In addition, it
contains a comprehensive examination of the possibilities of
integration of LEDAS Scheduler 3.0 into other products, in particular,
into the systems currently under development in LEDAS, such as MORE+,
a client-server system for automated meeting scheduling on
conventional and mobile platforms, and a project scheduling system for
the Eclipse platform with functions similar to those of Microsoft
Project.

Russian) PROSPECTS OF LGS: APPLICATION AND DEVELOPMENT Sergey Preis 18 Jun 2004 The paper presents LGS, a geometric solver by LEDAS for systems requiring solution of geometric problems with constraints. LGS is presently a stable marketable product, and so the paper focuses on the future of LGS, such as possible development paths and applications to real tasks. Apart from the traditional use in large parametric CSD systems, possibilities for integrating the solver in small CADs and three-dimensional modeling systems are examined. Russian) TWO NEW DECOMPOSITION TECHNIQUES IN GEOMETRIC CONSTRAINT SOLVING A. Eremchenko, A. Ershov 02 Jun 2004 This preprint presents two new techniques for decomposition of geometric constraint problems, which are used in the LGS solver currently being developed by LEDAS, Ltd. The first technique is non-heuristic decomposition for two- and three-dimensional problems with geometric constraints. The second technique is an heuristic decomposition method for two- and three-dimensional problems con-taining both geometric and algebraic constraints.
